The advantages of this type of filter? The filter media <b>lasts from 3 to 5 years<\/b> depending on usage, they are <b>inexpensive<\/b> , and require <b>little<\/b> <b>maintenance<\/b> , which is why <b>they<\/b> are a preferred option, even for large pools such as public or community pools.  <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"CARTRIDGE_FILTERS_SUPERIOR_FILTRATION_AND_EFFICIENCY\"><\/span><b>CARTRIDGE FILTERS: SUPERIOR FILTRATION AND EFFICIENCY<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>This type of filter uses replaceable cartridges that <b>last up to a year<\/b> and require <b>frequent and thorough cleaning<\/b> to maintain their effectiveness. They use a layer of diatomaceous earth powder, fossilized microorganisms from algae that <b>extremely effectively<\/b> filter impurities from pool water. They consist of a series of powder-coated fabric grids inside a plastic tank, allowing them to filter out very small particles as small as <b>3 microns<\/b> , including bacteria, viruses, and even traces of cosmetics or oils.
