Types of tennis courts. What should yours be like?

Before we begin, the basic characteristics: dimensions

Everyone knows that the total dimensions of a tennis court, depending on the type of competition, range from approximately 38×18 for national competitions to 40.23×20.11 for international competitions and the Davis Cup.

The box, 23.77 x 8.23 ​​for singles and 23.77 x 10.97 for doubles, remains unchanged depending on the type of competition.

The dividing net must be at a height of 0.914 m at the center and 1.07 m at the posts that support it.

Tennis court surfaces

Once we know this, we need to consider what type of court best suits our needs. There are several types of surfaces for playing tennis, and these are the most common ones:

SYNTHETIC

  • They can offer maximum comfort and gaming quality depending on the layers and the support where they are installed.

  • Depending on the finish, it can offer a regular or cushion bottle.

  • If installed on concrete supports, they are a very good solution for restoring any type of surface.

  • The maintenance and restoration of the resin is very easy to apply and is economical.

REINGREEN ® (FOAM FIBER)

  • Considered the new generation artificial turf with the advantages of clay: high and slow bounce, controlled displacement, membrane that acts as a biomechanical protector of the joints.

  • Suitable for very extreme climate zones

  • It requires little maintenance and is suitable for the restoration of deteriorated runways.

ARTIFICIAL TURF OR GRASS

  • Natural grass is the original surface for tennis.

  • Fast surface, irregular bounce, relatively little used.

  • Building tennis courts and maintaining this type of surface is costly and complex.

  • Surface with long durability

  • Low maintenance cost

CLAY – PITCHED EARTH

  • It is the first popular alternative to grass surfaces.

  • They require considerable maintenance. They must be watered, and at the intersections, they must be swept to smooth out marks and irregularities.

  • It provides a slow bounce and the ability to skate on the ground for a defensive game, where the point lasts longer.
