If this quarantine is giving us anything, apart from a certain uncertainty about when it will all end, it’s time. Time to be at home, which we can use very effectively to get our pool ready , clean it, and have it prepared for the warmer months.
Perhaps you listened to us and were prepared to winterize your pool to keep it in good condition during the cold season. However, it’s also very likely that you still haven’t been able to dedicate enough time to properly caring for and maintaining your pool during the winter. Don’t worry, you still have time to get your pool clean. And… what better time to do it than now?
STEPS TO A PERFECT POOL
Tell me what color the water is and I’ll tell you what’s wrong . Is it green and cloudy? This means that a large number of microorganisms have infected it, and the pool basin probably also contains accumulated debris such as leaves or small branches.
Ideally, you shouldn’t empty your pool to respect the environment and save water, energy, and money, which is why we always recommend protecting it. How? With a cover .
1 – MAINTAIN THE WATER’S pH LEVEL – not too high, not too low. Ideally, it should be between 7.2 and 7.6. A high level is harmful to the skin and reduces the effectiveness of disinfectants. If it is too low, it will cause deterioration and corrosion of the pool’s components. At Reindesa, we have water testing kits available for you to easily monitor both pH and alkalinity.
2 – DISINFECT – There are several methods for disinfecting pool water, such as bromine or sodium hypochlorite, but chlorine is the most widely used. For chlorine to be effective, the pH level must be correct. It’s also important to ensure that the free chlorine residual is between 0.5 and 1.0 ppm for optimal disinfection.
3 – STOP ALGAE FORMATION – Warmer weather brings with it a greater likelihood of algae growth, creating the ideal environment for bacteria to proliferate. Algaecide should be added along with disinfectant (chlorine, bromine, etc.) to enhance its effect. Apply it regularly to control algae growth.
4 – STATE OF THE FILTER AND WATER PURIFICATION MECHANISMS. Last but not least, make sure the filters, skimmers, nozzles, etc., are in good working order. Check if the filter media needs changing, because if the filter isn’t working properly, the chemicals won’t be able to do their job and you’ll end up wasting more. Clean it regularly to prevent limescale buildup, and disinfect the sand once a year, before the swimming season.
All done! Not so complicated, right? If you encounter any difficulties or have any questions while following the pool maintenance process, remember that you can always contact us . We’re available to help you restore your pool to optimal water level and quality in just four visits. Can we help you?
