London Aquatics Centre 2012

Athletes such as the renowned Michael Phelps and the Catalan Mireia Belmonte have swum in its waters, whom we congratulate on her well-deserved silver medal, because for the Olympic Games everything has to be excellent and of course, its pools could not be any less.

The aquatic center , designed by architect Zaha Hadid , has a capacity of 17,500 people and features an undulating roof covering the competition and diving pools, as well as the main hall. The third pool, intended for training, is located beneath the Stratford City Bridge, and its building harmonizes with the curves of the main venue. Additional wings have been added for the Games to provide extra seating , but these will be removed after the Olympics.

Photographers Hufton + Crow took these stunning photographs of the entire venue, where we can also see the trampolines that protrude naturally, respecting the undulating shapes of the ceiling above them.

Quite a masterpiece!
