Summer is just around the corner, and with it comes the eagerly awaited swimming season—unless you have a heated pool and have been swimming all year round. If that’s not the case, your pool probably needs a tune-up and a few adjustments to get the water crystal clear again. Especially if you didn’t winterize it.
Whether you’re already familiar with the necessary steps or you’ve recently entered the world of swimming, it never hurts to review the basics for getting your pool ready for the season . Shall we begin?
REFURBISH YOUR POOL STEP BY STEP
- CHECK THE CONDITION OF YOUR POOL . Take a general look: have any cracks appeared? Are the nozzles, skimmers, water pump, and filters in good condition? If you notice any damage, make the necessary repairs, as it could lead to future problems. Reindesa is here to help if you need any assistance. The filter media is extremely important. How long has it been since you changed the filter sand? Ask us about new filter media, such as AFM glass.
- CLEAN WITHOUT FORGETTING ANY DETAIL . Winter may have caused dirt to accumulate on the walls, gutters, grates, or waterline. We recommend using alkaline cleaners or descalers for the waterline, and a pool vacuum to remove dirt from the bottom. If you don’t want to do it manually, robotic pool cleaners are the most practical and convenient option.
- WHAT IS THE WATER LEVEL? If your pool has skimmers, the water level should always be above two-thirds of the height of the skimmer opening. If not, you’ll need to refill it, otherwise proper filtration won’t be achieved and air could enter the pool’s pipes and ducts. Once this step is completed, and with the system closed, proceed to backwash the pool filter and the suction lines.
- LEVEL THE pH . Always keep it between 7.2 and 7.6. This will protect the pool installation, prevent skin irritation while swimming, and ensure the effectiveness of disinfectants, algaecides, or flocculants (if the water is cloudy).
- INTO THE WATER, DUCKS! Have you already applied the water conditioning products? Great, then we’ll double-check that the pH hasn’t changed and… pool ready to enjoy!
